CERT Foundation
For Validation & Verification Bodies

Verifiers work for the standard, not the client.

VVBs under CERT owe their duty to the standard and the public — not to the fee-paying client. Accreditation is via IAF-member bodies to ISO/IEC 17029 and ISO 14065.

Requirements

  • ISO/IEC 17029 (general principles for validation & verification bodies).
  • ISO 14065 (accreditation for GHG statements).
  • Accreditation by an IAF-member Accreditation Body.
  • Independence declarations by each named auditor.
  • Signed adherence to the CERT VVB Code of Conduct.

Application process

  1. Submit accreditation evidence and staff CVs.
  2. CERT reviews and requests supplementary evidence as needed.
  3. Interview and desk-review of two past verifications.
  4. Signing of the CERT VVB Master Services Agreement.
  5. Publication of the VVB on the accredited list.
No pay-to-play
CERT does not accept payment from VVBs for accreditation beyond a published, cost-based application fee. Renewal is annual and evidence-based.
